Brightness

Isa 60:19 God the Glory of His People "The sun shall no longer be your light by day, Nor for brightness shall the moon give light to you; But the LORD will be to you an everlasting light, And your God your glory. NKJV

Recently we had a power outage.  I went outside to check things out and noticed that the sky was full of stars.  It seemed that everything was bigger than usual.  It made me realize that heaven is closer and God is bigger than we recognize.

I am afraid that we let the lights of this world shine too brightly in our lives.  When they are diminished, God is seen larger and clearer.  The glitter and glamour soon loses its appeal and our hearts need refreshing from a greater source.  God has supplied us with all things that should keep us content.

Have you lost your spiritual vision?  Has the world and its bright lights disappointed you?  Today, try to look beyond the brightness of this world and look upon His Brightness.

Confused?

Prov 16:3 Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established. NKJV

My grandchildren love to go with me when I walk Lady, our Boston Terrier.  Most of the time Lady enjoys the kids walking with us, but the other day she became confused.  My grandson, Nicholas, was eating a cookie as we walked.  My granddaughter, Ali, was riding her scooter around us as we walked.   Lady could not make up her mind.  Should she stay with Nicholas in hopes of getting a bite of the cookie, or should she run along side Ali on her scooter?  These are hard decisions for a two-year-old dog.  Finally, Lady decided the cookie was a better option.  I laughed at her and realized that she just portrayed my life.  So many times it is difficult to know the best thing to do.

Our lives are full of decisions.  Some of them are very important.  They leave little room for error.  It is essential in this busy life that we us the right compass for our decisions. The Lord is the right source for direction.  When we commit our lives to Him, He adjusts our thinking in the right way.  Many believers have been blessed emotionally, spiritually, and financially by letting the Lord lead the way.  He is ever ready to give the needed nudge in the right direction.  The joy of living a committed life is that the decision of obedience is already made.  The rest is a day-by-day living under His leadership.

Are you confused about the decisions you are facing?  Give your burdens to Christ.  He promised to make burdens light.  Call on Him today.  Let Him show you the right path.  It will always be marked by His peace in your life.  Don't let your emotions control you, let faith in the Lord guide you.

No Coverage

Isa 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. NKJV

Near our house is a stretch of road that does not have good cell phone coverage.  It is very aggravating to be in that area when the cell phone rings.  If there is any connection, it is a poor one.  Generally, it is best to wait until I have passed through the area to make and receive calls.

Our Christian walk is sometimes like the cell phone coverage.  We let some interference break down the connection.  It seems that when we hear from God it is broken communication.  We live as if we can "dial-up" heaven at anytime and get what we want.  Our verse makes it clear that our behavior can effect our connection with God.

Has sin interrupted your connection with the Lord?  Why not confess those sins today and get in a better coverage area (the altar).  Communication will be restored quickly and your joy will return.
